This is a fun challenge from a wonderful group of quilters in Australia. Gail Chalker and four friends are collecting hexagon flowers from all over the world to assemble into what will be the World’s Biggest Hexagon Quilt. They expect to get into the Guinness Book of Records AND, even better, the end result will be made into smaller quilts and distributed to nursing homes in Australia. “It was a plan to promote the happiness of all.” (Emma, Ch. 53)

There is a new toy at our house, and it doesn’t involve quilting! I cannot explain it, but I find it irresistible.
I have great memories of sewing as a very young child and as a teenager. We also played cards and games, and we enjoyed building and making things–forts, playhouses, costumes, knitted scarves, yards of spool cord, doll clothes—anything at all.

Rae Ann Holbrook has finished the center of a gorgeous quilt top with Inklingo, using the design of Rhonda Pearce’s Award Winning quilt, “Insanity,” which was on the cover of Issue 16/6 of Australian Patchwork & Quilting. It is an amazing accomplishment, especially considering some of the challenges that life has thrown at Rae Ann this year. Neither of us is sure whether hand piecing more than 10,000 half-inch hexagons is therapy or insanity. We know this design is easier and faster and more portable with Inklingo than with any other method, but. . . well. . . Monkey says ten THOUSAND of anything (except maybe chocolate) is a bit over the top.
