It was a beautiful summer day in Burlington yesterday. I had just finished the Inklingo Hexagon Quilt Design Book (free!) and I needed to unwind. I decided to stitch a few hexagons on the front porch. There was a lovely breeze and entertainment. As you can see, friendship took precedence over sewing this time.

Alison and I have have always wanted lines printed perfectly on fabric, which don’t show when we’re finished. The photos prove it. We had to wait for computers to be invented, and then Inklingo.
If our family’s DNA is ever unraveled, they are going to find a photo gene. My mother, father, aunts, uncles, and grandparents all loved taking photos and organizing them in albums. My Dad even had his own darkroom.

A Canadian Inklingo quilter says that “back-basting” is how she was taught to appliqué when she was young, and it was just called “appliqué,” so it seems to have been around for at least several decades.

First thing this morning, I was able to make an online donation to the Canadian Red Cross for $400, including 25% of all orders on Saturday and Sunday, and a little more of my own. This will be matched by the Canadian Government, dollar for dollar, so this brief event has added $800 to the relief effort in Haiti. This money is available to the Red Cross immediately.
